ENLISTEN® SOUND LISTENING THERAPY

Another therapy technique that Kathleen uses that has recently been made affordable and available is the Enlisten® Sound Listening Therapy (for more info see www.soundlistening.com). Kathleen has been using this new technique for the last two years and has tremendous results.

Enlisten® was developed based on research and clinical experience by Doctor Alfred Tomatis (for more info see www.tomatis-group.com).

The Tomatis theory was founded in the 1950's by Alfred Tomatis, a French ear-nose-and-throat specialist. This theory deals with the relationship that exists between the ear and the voice and, by extension, between listening and communication. It is learning through listening, in the sense that it permits an individual to reawaken the desire to communicate by learning how to use his auditory system in an optimal fashion.

The Tomatis Method is founded on three laws:

  • The voice contains only the sounds that the ear hears.
  • If listening is modified, the voice is also modified, immediately and unconsciously.
  • It is possible to transform the voice by an auditory stimulus that is sustained over a certain period of time (law of remanence).

In short, better hearing-means better learning-better learning means better communication-better communication means better relationships!

Enlisten® session:

Similar to Neurofeedback sessions, Enlisten® sessions are relaxing and simple. Firstly Kathleen will perform a simple listening test to determine areas of deficiency. Then she will develop a specialized listening program designed specifically for the client.

The client then has the option of having the listening sessions at the office or you may take a laptop computer home with them and conduct the session there. Generally treatment consists of 30-40 hours of listening around two to three weeks of listening.

Listening sessions will be conducted in a comfortable lounge chair with your feet up. You wear a set of headphones with bone and air conduction to hear the music and all you have to do is listen and relax. Your brain does the work!
